For the first time the 13 transnational programmes currently operating in the framework of the European Territorial Coooperation objective organize a joint conference demonstrating how transnational cooperation helps to improve quality of life in European regions.

This conference focus on two main questions: What has been achieved by transnational cooperation so far and what is the future potential?

The conference was held on 15th and 16th September 2011 in Katowice, Poland and feature high level speakers and panels including EU Commission representatives and Polish Ministries. It is arranged in cooperation with and hosted by the Silesian Region and the city of Katowice and will be an accompanying event of the Polish Presidency of the EU Council.The event will showcase the results and outcomes of the 13 transnational programmes and present what Transnational Cooperation does on the ground and how this type of cooperation can address topics not covered by any level of governance.

Moreover it provided a platform for stakeholders to exchange views on the design of transnational cooperation beyond 2013 – in the light of the EU 2020 strategy.

To encourage and facilitate participation from all over Europe, it will be possible to follow and comment on the conference sessions online via video and live stream.
