Technische Universität Berlin, Institute of Architecture, Department Design and Structure (TEK) is engaged in the fields of the realization of sustainable, resource saving, energy saving projects. It is project partner No. 1, the Lead partner of the Longlife project, leader of the German group, member in the competence team 1 and 3 and head of the Steering committee.

Technische Universität Berlin is already involved in a German national founded project “Young Cities” established in MENA Region which deals with sustainable city and building development with similar aims as Longlife. Experiences from this project, with different climatic conditions, can and will flow into Longlife.

Technische Universität Berlin is also a member of Menashda - Middle East North Africa Housing Development Association - which deals also with housing and sustainability in its region.

Professor Dr.-Ing. Klaus Rueckert is head of Department Design and Structure (TEK). He considered it is “a short step” to extend the research area from countries such as Mexico, China, Iran and Afghanistan to Europe's Baltic Sea Region.
